Geneviève (née Buecher) and François Barmès created the domaine in 1985, working with vineyards that had been in their families since the 17th century. Situated in the village of Wettolsheim, at the base of the hills beneath the Vosges mountains, the domaine is composed of 17 hectares spread among seven different terroirs, three of which are Grand Cru.
In the mid 1990s, François and Geneviève dedicated themselves to applying biodynamic farming practices throughout their entire domaine, and they were certified through Biodyvin and Ecocert in 2002. After the untimely passing of François in 2011, their daughter Sophie and son Maxime became thoroughly involved in the management of the domaine. Together with Geneviève, they continue a family tradition of dedication to their vineyards and passion for wines of integrity. Throughout all of their bottlings are wonderfully harmonious expressions of pure fruit and individual terroir.
