Vazart-Coquart

Chouilly, Champagne • France

The Vazart-Coquart domaine is composed of 11 hectares, all in Grand Cru Chouilly, the northernmost town of the Côte des Blancs.

The vineyards are spread across 30 parcels with a variety of expositions and soils. Accordingly, all of the parcels are vinified separately to preserve their diversity. Jean-Pierre Vazart’s grandfather started as an independent domaine in 1954, and Jean-Pierre took the reins in 2005 after working with his father for 16 years. Vinification is entirely in stainless steel tanks to preserve the mineral delicacy of the fruit, but the wines still undergo full malo. The reserve wine, which constitutes 25% of the NV Brut Réserve, is drawn from a solera that was started in 1982.
